Low-Carb Dog Treats

Recipe 1 - Cheese balls

Ingredients:

1 cup almond flour (or coconut flour).
1 cup grated cheese (low fat, no additives)
1 egg
2 tablespoons coconut oil (melted)
1 teaspoon dried parsley (optional, for fresh breath)


Instructions:

1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius and line a baking tray with baking paper.

2. In a bowl, mix together the almond flour, grated cheese and dried parsley (if using).

3. In a separate bowl, beat the egg and add the melted coconut oil. Mix these ingredients well.

4. Add the egg mixture to the dry ingredients and stir until a dough forms.

5. Shape the dough into small balls and place them on the baking tray.

6.Bake the cheese balls for about 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.

7. Allow the treats to cool completely before giving them to your dog.





Recipe 2 - Chicken and sweet potato treats.

Ingredients:

1 cup cooked chicken (cooked and diced).
1/2 cup cooked sweet potato (cooked and mashed)
1 egg
2 tablespoons coconut flour
1 teaspoon dried parsley (optional)


Instructions:

1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius and line a baking tray with baking paper.

2. In a bowl, mix together the cooked chicken, mashed sweet potato and dried parsley (if desired).

3. In a separate bowl, beat the egg and add the coconut flour. Mix these ingredients well.

4. Add the egg and flour mixture to the chicken and sweet potato pieces and stir until a dough forms.

5. Roll out the dough and cut out small treats with a biscuit cutter or sharp knife.

6. Place the treats on the baking tray and bake for about 15-20 minutes or until firm and lightly golden brown.

7. Let the chicken and sweet potato treats cool before serving them to your dog.


Make sure you give the treats in moderation as they are meant to be a supplement to your dog's regular diet. Also note that every dog's needs are different, so it is advisable to consult with your vet before introducing new treats, especially if your dog has special dietary needs.
